Pennsylvania provides thousands of acres of training grounds and different bird contacts. If the timing is right we can connect with some woodcock, and there is access to training birds such as quail and chukar too.

The spring air gives flux to the temperatures. There are opportunities for water work, hiking, and other outdoor activities.  

Virginia is a more urban stop. Family is a great tool to have if they know dogs. Mine helps me socialize the dogs to new people in a respectful way that builds confidence and trust. The dogs are in a more sterile environment. It is a great time and place for foundation and yard work!

The flat agriculture land provides dogs with new stimuli. Wild pheasants and quail teach the dogs that they can find game anywhere. Hot afternoons take us to the water where there are no worries of snakes or alligators the southern states have. We usually have more dog socialization opportunities here with our friends in the state.

Colorado presents high altitude settings. The dogs see a completely new territory. There are mountains to climb, new scents to inhale, and so much to experience. The air may be thinner but the views hold so much more. Here we have opportunities to train with friends. Having the pack train with other dogs and people helps enforce the idea of paying attention and being obedient everywhere. 

Idaho is a big bird state for us. In less than two months the dogs can connect with pheasants, partridge, ruffed grouse, sharptails, ducks, geese and more! We will work on steadiness in our retrievers during driven shoots, and steadiness in our pointers on the prairie birds and forest grouse. 

We spend much of our time in this state. Guiding upland hunts at Otter Creek Farmstead and Distillery keeps me and the dogs pretty busy. This is the time for our seasoned dogs to shine!

We were honored to help Wildrose Midwest get their kennel established in Howards Grove, Wisconsin. There were great training opportunities in the area along with some new connections and friends we made. We will be back to visit!

We have friends in West Point and Oxford that we visit.  Usually, we are attending seminars to further our education and to teach others.

There is so much to explore!!
